“The Anaga Biofest project is notable for its role in supporting entrepreneurship, implementatng a sustainable economic model at territorial scale, supporting zero km local products and working towards the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, recovering and transmitting its ethnographic and agrarian roots. This initiative, which promotes the local economy, relying on key actors and entities in the municipalities of Tegueste, La Laguna, the Northeast region of Tenerife and the Anaga Biosphere Reserve as a whole, shows what it means to feel and be a part of the Biosphere Reserve.”

This is the third award that Anaga Biofest has received in two years, and the second national award. In October 2022 the project was also commended as an excellent example of good ecotourism practices in the VI National Ecotourism Congress, held in Galicia, where the festival was highlighted as an immersive, zero km experience in the Anaga Biosphere Reserve. In 2021 it received the award for best overall sustainable tourism practice in the “Sustainable Tourism Practices 2021” competition, a distinction granted by the department for tourism at the Tenerife Island Council.
