This route follows one of the main coastal areas of the La Laguna municipality: Punta del Hidalgo. It is a comfortable hike, which will allow visitors to learn about biodiversity along the coast in this part of the Anaga Biosphere Reserve. An opportunity to see first-hand all of the wealth and diversity of species that exists along the intertidal strip, the coastal area defined by the limits of high- and low-tide. This route has an educational focus, and passes along the only trail in Tenerife to be classified as a Blue Trail.


  • 15€ per person (includes guide, food tasting and transfer).

Actividad complementaria incluida

  • Explanations of the surroundings by two biologists, a result of collaboration with the “Experimental project for sustainable development of public use of the Punta del Hidalgo coastline, Tenerife”, co-financed by the ERDF Operational Programme (2014-2020). Stops at bird hides to learn about local and migratory bird species, as well as marine species that live along the coast (algae, invertebrates, fish, etc.).
  • Food tasting in collaboration with the Fishers association at Punta del Hidalgo.
  • Optional swim.

Route ends at the natural pools in Punta del Hidalgo / food tasting in an estate next to the lighthouse / return transfer to Plaza del Hermano Ramón (La Laguna).

Logística y recomendaciones

  • Outward transfer included from Tegueste to Punta del Hidalgo (Departure at 10:00 from Casa de Los Zamorano). Return transfer included on public transport from La Punta del Hidalgo to La Laguna (estimated arrival at Plaza del Hermano Ramón at 17:00).
  • Recommendations to take part in this route: a 1L refillable water bottle (the organisation will provide water at the information point at the beginning of the activity only), warm clothes, sun cream (face and lips), comfortable footwear and swimwear/towel. Swim shoes or sandals are recommended to enable easy access to the natural pools at low tide, during the explanations.
